Austin, Texas Are You Up For A Challenge?

Sign Up To Represent Your Golf Course And You’ll Tee Up at Barton Creek Free!

It’s been said that ”Everything is bigger in Texas,” and when it comes to National Match Play, we’re ready to prove it. Starting the first week of December, National Match Play is hosting the Austin Challenge. It’s part of our biggest event yet, and it’s your chance to play Barton Creek Country Club for free.

The National Match Play Austin Challenge offers you a chance to play a 2-man net, best ball match play event just like the pros play in The Ryder Cup and The President’s Cup. Plus, you can sign-up to represent your home course from among six of south Texas’s top public and private courses. Those courses include:

Crystal Falls
Delaware Springs
Forest Creek
Grey Rock
ShadowGlen
Star Ranch
Don’t see your home course? Nominate that course to be included in the challenge or ask your head pro to join the fun.

How It Works

Competing in the Austin Challenge is easy. Just find a partner and sign up your 2-man team to represent your course. Each course is limited to a maximum of three teams, so sign up soon.

Pool play matches begin at Barton Creek on Wednesday, December 7th, and continue on December 8th and the 10th. The finals will be held on Sunday, December 11th.

How many matches you play depends on how many teams represent each course. Depending on the entrants for each course, one team can play all four matches, two teams can split the matches, or three different teams can play one pool match each with the best advancing to play in the final.

Who’s Eligible?

To register for the Austin Challenge, you and your partner must both be at least 18 years of age, have an established USGA handicap, and have the USGA GHIN app on your cell phone. Simply present your handicap via the app, along with your driver’s license on the first tee, and you’re ready to tee off.

What’s The Catch?

Playing in the Austin Challenge is simple. There’s no fine print and there’s no catch. Our goal is to allow golfers of every skill level to enjoy the fun and excitement of 2-man best ball match play, just like in the Ryder Cup or President’s Cup.

The motivation to offer such an amazing package is also simple. We expect to benefit from the feedback provided by participants while the experience will encourage them to participate in the 2023 qualifying. Participating in this year’s Austin challenge or National Finals does not, however, require participation in 2023 activities.

So round up a partner, sign up your team, and you can tee up at Barton Creek for free this December!
The pairings will be announced soon, so sign up today!
