The Inaugural National Match Play Championship Is In The Books

Congratulations to Bill Detmar and David Ellis who took the inaugural Championship with a 1 Up victory over the Santa Teresa team of Ryan Bernard and Joey Peterson.

Austin, Texas – Jan 19, 2023 – Boise Ranch claimed the National Match Play title last month at Barton Creek Resort and Spa in Austin, Texas. In addition to the trophy, the glory, and the bragging rights, the Boise Ranch team also earned an all-expenses-paid entry into any Pro-Am event on the ProAmEvents.com calendar. For their runner-up finish, Santa Teresa scored a 3-night stay & play trip at their choice of a nearby resort.

While the finals matches took place on Barton Creek’s beautiful Crenshaw Cliffside course, the preliminary rounds were played on the resort’s other equally impressive courses, including Palmer Lakeside, Fazio Foothills, and Fazio Canyons.

The Boise Ranch team wasn’t the only winner on the weekend, however. Congratulations also go out to Steve Wunderlich of the Pointe Royale Village team from Branson, MO who was the winner of the weekend’s Big Raffle. That means Steve won an automatic entry to play in the 2023 National Match Play Championship at Bandon Dunes in Oregon, with lodging and food included.

Finally, thanks to everyone who participated and made the Championship a big success. The other competing teams included pairs from Springfield in Fort Mill, SC, BanBury in Eagle, ID, and Laguna Seca in Monterrey, CA.
